About Me
This site belongs to Euan Mitchell. I am a geologist by training, with a Master's and PhD from the University of New Mexico. After teaching at the university level in the US for several years, I decided to make a career change. I moved back to my home town of Edinburgh, Scotland, and recently (August 2021) earned a Master's with Distinction in GIS and Earth Observation at the University of Edinburgh. I decided to make this web map version of my CV as a novel way to showcase my background, as well as new skills in web mapping and database management.
If you would like to know more about me, please:

About the Map
This site is built in Python using the Django framework, and hosted by PythonAnywhere. The map is built on Leaflet technology, using the Folium Python library. The data displayed on the map are stored in a SQLite database within the Django application.
Map markers are displayed in four groups:
- Education - red
- Employment - blue
- Fieldwork - purple
- Miscellaneous - green
You can view all the markers at once, or use the menu box in the top right corner to select one or more groups.
